+Will the gas leaking from an LPG cylinder cause serious harm?
LPG is a gas that is flammable; hence, making it an explosive substance. Due to the chemical makeup of the gas, exposure for an extended period and in large concentration, will be harmful (as with other such gases). It is important that you ventilate the space (by opening windows and doors) whenever you smell a LPG leak, and shut down all heat sources.
+How is the leakage of LPG from a gas cylinder detected?
Spray the cylinder with a soapy cleaning agent. If there is a leak, bubbles will form.
+Shouldn’t my cylinder be filled to 100%?
For safety reasons, the liquid content in the LPG cylinder is filled to 85%, allowing for vapour expansion. This safety requirement is a stringent part of the Industry’s safety regulations.
+How do I know that I have received what I paid for?
IGL uses computerized electronic scales to fill all cylinders. These scales are very sophisticated and accurate. They are serviced on a routine basis and calibration is verified by the Jamaica Bureau of Standards.
